Top Plate; 304 Alloy, 18 gauge Stainless Steel

   Use the Top Plate to seal off the old chimney at the top where the liner comes out of the flue. We suggest you break the clay liner down flush with the crown of the chimney if the Top Plate is larger than the clay liner. You can cut the Top Plate to fit your clay liner if you do not want to break it, but it is not an easy feat and can only be done with an abrasive blade on your 7 1/4" circular saw.

   Do not seal around the Top Plate and liner. The pipe will expand and break the seal anyway, so it will not work. When you seal the Storm Collar, it will keep water from running down the liner.
